What have the RLFs been up to? March 2016
The Riverina Regional Landcare Facilitators are Bindi Vanzella (3 days per week) and Kimberley Beattie (2 days per week).
March 2016 saw the commencement of six new Local Landcare Coordinators (LLCs) across the Riverina region, two in the Lachlan catchment and four in the Murrumbidgee catchment. Bindi and Kimberley were kept busy helping the new coordinators settle into their roles. Bindi conducted one-on-one induction activities with each of the Murrumbidgee area coordinators and attended a LachLandcare Planning Day with the two Lachlan area coordinators, and Kimberley accompanied the new LLCs to a state-wide induction and training workshop, which was attended by all 66 new Local Landcare Coordinators in New South Wales. The RLFs also organised and ran a team meeting for the new Riverina Landcare Team, which consists of the RLFS, the LLCs, Local Land Services (LLS) staff, and representatives from Murrumbidgee Landcare, LachLandcare, and Riverina Local Land Services.
In addition to working with the new LLCs, Bindi met with representatives from Charles Sturt University, Soldier On, Pennie Scott, Erin Earth, Riverina Local Land Services, Holbrook Landcare, and LachLandcare, to discuss ideas for future collaborations, and worked on several funding applications. Meanwhile, Kimberley continued to maintain the Murrumbidgee Landcare social media accounts and the Riverina Landcare blog.
